UniCredito Italiano Spa, owner of Bulgaria's Bulbank, has acquired 24.84% of the capital of DZI Bank AD and 13.05% of the insurance company DZI AD.

With this acquisition the Italian banking group takes the reins of 21.7% of Bulgarian bank market being also owner of Bulbank, Hebros bank and HVB Bank Biochim.

DZI became the country's largest financial group after the merger of its banking and insurance units. The murder of DZI's CEO Emil Kyulev on October 26 has brought out from the wardrobe the interest of some big investors to buy this prosperous business.
