EMI sees underlying profit before tax, items above consensus (2:33 AM ET) LONDON (MarketWatch) -- U.K. music company EMI Group (uk:UK:EMI: news, chart, profile)said Wednesday that it expects to report underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization for the year ended March 31 of around 174 million pounds, which it said is ahead of the consensus market forecast. EMI said revenue at its EMI Music unit fell around 15% at constant currency, in line with previous guidance. Revenue at the music publishing arm is expected to be broadly flat, while operating margins have improved. The firm said it now expects to achieve at least 70 million pounds of its projected cost savings by March 2008. It added the cash cost of the program has been revised down to no more than 125 million pounds from 150 million pounds. In view of the funding requirements, EMI has suspended dividend payments. The group also said it is examining the possibility of securitizing its music publishing assets and hopes to complete a deal by the end of the year.
