www.medibroker.co.uk Fears of a salmonella contamination have prompted the recall of hundreds of bags of lettuce from the shelves of Britain's shops.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said after it had received word of the salmonella risk from Florette's owners, Soleco UK, that customers who have already bought affected bags should "throw them away" and take the packaging to the retailer.
Point-of-sale notices are set to appear in grocery shops this weekend in an effort to prevent any cases of the virus breaking out. A full product recall is underway.
Recent salmonella scares in Britain have involved imported eggs from Spain and a range of confectionery maker Cadbury's Easter eggs, which cost the company £20 million.
