The Board of Aldermen approved Tuesday a $1,108 change order from Massey Construction to install the elevator inside the building, said City Secretary Tonya McCaghren.

Original plans called for the elevator to be installed on the outside of Town Hall. Installing it inside the building will create less wear and tear on the elevator's wiring and the gears, McCaghren said.

In other business, aldermen authorized up to $19,000 to replace a bad water pump, McCaghren said. The quote also includes repairs to the well casing, she said.

One will stay until June and the other through July 2007, she said. Aldermen granted the variance so long as the trailers don't interfere with the town's flood insurance, she said. The town's ordinance typically prohibits trailers being set up for such a length of time.
