The company will acquire 67 percent of the shares of the Antiguan company, said spokeswoman Maureen Rabbitt. She declined to say how much Digicel paid for the buyout.

Rabbitt said a memorandum of understanding was agreed between Digicel and state-owned APUA PCS in late September. The agreement is pending approval from Antigua's cabinet.
